Volunteers build playground at The Muse Knoxville

Children in Knoxville soon will have another playground to enjoy.

More than 200 volunteers worked Friday to put together a permanent play structure at The Muse Knoxville.

The museum teamed up with Blue Cross Blue Shield and Kaboom! for a one-day playground building blitz.

Driver suffers serious injuries in east Knoxville crash

Knoxville police said crews took Kory Miller, 26, to University of Tennessee Medical Center. Officials said Miller is expected to recover.

Officers said they don't know why Miller ran off the road at about 12:30 a.m. Friday. Police said the flatbed tractor trailer was legally parked on the shoulder.

House catches fire in northeast Knoxville

Knoxville firefighters said no one was inside a home in northeast Knoxville when it caught fire early Wednesday morning.

Crews responded to the scene on 122 Ault Street shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday, according an Knoxville Fire Department release. Firefighters managed to get the the flames under control 10 minutes after they arrived.

Officials said no one was living at the house at the time of the fire.

Investigators are trying to determine how the fire started.

Man tased, arrested by officers after chase

(WBIR - East Knoxville) A man is in custody Wednesday afternoon after he led officers on a chase onto I-640.

According to the Knox County Sheriff's Office, Joseph Pack, 37, was caught shoplifting from a Walmart on Millertown Pike at about 2:45 p.m. Walmart security chased Pack through the parking lot.

KCSO deputies had pulled someone over on a traffic stop in the Walmart parking lot at the same time, noticed the chase and also began to chase Pack.

Police track down where 1915 baby's grave marker belongs

With the help of a good Samaritan, Knoxville police managed to track down where a nearly 100-year-old grave marker belongs, shortly after the story aired on the news Tuesday.

The gravestone was discovered at about 6 a.m. Tuesday at a business on Riverview Crossing Drive in east Knoxville.

The headstone is for Gilford Householder who was born on March 30, 1915 and died on May 14, 1915.

No signs of flood on Prosser Road

Despite the heavy rains, there were no signs of standing water on Tuesday in an area notorious for flooding.

Prosser Road in east Knoxville was clear of standing water after hours of rain. For decades, the street would flood every time it rained, but the city has been working for months to raise the road.

Victim identified in fatal 3-vehicle wreck on Rutledge Pike

(WBIR) One person died Sunday morning after a wreck involving a motorcycle and two cars in East Knox County.

According to a preliminary report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a minivan tried to cross Rutledge Pike at Hidden Valley Road near Corryton when it crashed into a motorcycle.

The collision sent the motorcycle into another car waiting at the intersection.
