Person shot in the arm in East Knoxville

(WBIR) A person was shot in the arm in East Knoxville late Monday night.

Knoxville dispatch said the shooting happened at about 11:30 p.m. on Pocahontas Drive.Crews took the victim to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

No word on the person's condition or identity, and officials haven't released additional information at this time.

Thieves smash window, steal ATM, flee in stolen van

Knoxville Police are looking for the thieves who smashed into a business early Monday morning and took off with an ATM.

Officers were called to KUB Service Center on Asheville Highway just after 6:30 am.

Investigators said the thieves smashed the front glass of the business, went inside, and removed the ATM. They loaded it into a stolen white van and drove off.

The van was found a few hours later on Asheville Highway.

Investigators do no know how much money was inside the ATM.

KPD identifies driver injured when truck ran off I-40 overpass

Knoxville Police have identified the two truck drivers involved in a Tuesday accident that sent one of the vehicles off an I-40 overpass.

Pedro A. Ruedas, 40, of Dalton, Georgia, was driving the Kenworth flatbed truck that went off the interstate and landed on Strawberry Plains Pike. He was flown by Lifestar helicopter to UT Medical Center after being rescued from the cab of the truck. He is listed in critical condition.

'Click It or Ticket' campaign kicks off today

Monday kicked off the start of the national campaign urging drivers and passengers to buckle up.

Officials said they hope "Click It or Ticket" campaign reminds people that wearing a seat belt could mean the difference between life or death.

Many fatal accidents could have been avoided if people were wearing their seat belts. Last year officials said more than 360 fatal crash victims in Tennessee weren't wearing seat belts. So far this year, 128 fatal crash victims were unrestrained.

A family is continuing its search for the person who killed their loved one.
