News

Knoxville police said one suspect is in custody but others are still on the run after a crash in east Knox County.

Officers said they tried to stop a Chevy Trailblazer on Cherry Street near Magnolia Avenue on Wednesday, but the driver tried to get away, speeding off, before it hit a pickup and some bushes about a half a mile away.

Witnesses said two or three suspects ran from the crash scene. Inside the car, officers found a stolen handgun and marijuana in the car.

Officers arrested Raymond Wilson, 18, Wednesday. They found Wilson hiding under a truck after he ran from police from the scene of the accident, according to a Knoxville police release.

Police charged Wilson with possession of a weapon and marijuana, along with leaving the scene of an accident.
