No signs of flood on Prosser Road

Despite the heavy rains, there were no signs of standing water on Tuesday in an area notorious for flooding.

Prosser Road in east Knoxville was clear of standing water after hours of rain. For decades, the street would flood every time it rained, but the city has been working for months to raise the road.

The project has cost more than $1.4 million so far. The contractor will reduce four lanes on that road to two with curbs, a sidewalk on the east side, and a bike lane.

Prosser Road is currently closed as crews complete the work. Construction is expected to wrap up by December.
