Murder victim's family continues search for answers
News

(WBIR) It's been a year and a half since Leslie Guy Byford, was found shot to death in his SUV on his birthday. But, his family says they know as much now as they did the day it happened.

On Saturday, Byford's family and friends handed out fliers in Knoxville in hopes of finding answers to their loved ones murder. His mother, Ann Marotti, said someone out there knows who killed her son, who went by Lee.

"The person who did this knows who they are and they need to come forward to help us get closure for my son Lee," Marotti said.

Lee's family is offering a $5,000 reward for information that helps solve the case.

"We just want everyone to know and the person who took him, we are not going to stop, we are not going to stop," Marotti said.

According to KPD, Byford, had stopped at his house in East Knoxville for a few minutes on January 5, 2013. Detectives said around 9 p.m. he went back out to his SUV that was parked in his driveway, where his friend had been waiting in the passenger seat.

As time has passed, KPD investigators have labeled Lee's murder a cold case.

That hasn't stopped those closest to Lee from asking the public to come forward with information.

One of his friends, Dean Huff, said it's terrible because it appears it could have happened to anybody.

"It's basically been a year and a half and we don't know anymore than we knew the day it happened," said Huff.

If you have any information on what happened to Byford, you can call KPD at 865-215-7317.
