Pellissippi State nursing program moves closer to national accreditation

Pellissippi State's nursing program is one step closer to national accreditation.

The Tennessee Department of Health's board of nursing approved Pellissippi State Community College's associate degree program in nursing last month. That decision will allow Pellissippi to pursue national accreditation.

The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission has invited Pellissippi to complete a written self-study. When that is turned in, the NLNAC will visit the campus and a governing board review will determine if the program will receive accreditation.

The school's first class of nursing students graduated in May. They received a 97 percent first-time pass rate on the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses.
