Knox Co. deputies search for armed robber


The Knox County Sheriff's Office needs help tracking down an armed robber.

Officers said the man shown in the pictures walked into Lee's Food Market on Rutledge Pike just before midnight Wednesday. The man pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded cash from the register.

The clerk told investigators that the man ran from the store on Old Rutledge Pike. No one was hurt in the robbery.

Fire destroys east Knoxville home early Tuesday morning


A fire early Tuesday morning destroyed an east Knoxville home.

Flames were shooting from the roof when firefighters arrived at the home on Argyle Drive shortly after 4:30 a.m.

One person inside the home managed to escape, but went to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Firefighters believe the fire started in the roof of the home.


Body found in vacant east Knoxville building


(WBIR-Knoxville) Knoxville Police are investigating after a body was found inside a vacant building in east Knoxville Monday morning.

Authorities say the partically decomposed remains were found in an emply building located at 2311 Martin Luther King Jr. Ave.

The unidentifed body was dressed in winter clothing and found next to an old mattress.

Investigators are working to determing the identity of the person and how they died.


Police search for two suspects in east Knoxville shooting


Knoxville police are searching for suspects in an east Knoxville shooting that sent a woman to the hospital Monday night.

When police arrived to the crime scene at 2700 Parkview Avenue, they found Sanita Burgins, 42, with a gunshot wound in her stomach, according to a Knoxville Police Department release.

Crews took her to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Officials said they expect that she will recover from her injuries.

Knox County deputies search for armed robber


Knox County deputies are searching for an armed robbery suspect accused of robbing an east Knox County store early Monday morning.

The store's clerk told deputies that a man came into Lee's Food Mart on Rutledge Pike, showed a firearm, and demanded money. He then ran out of the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, heading east through the parking lot.

Prosser Road to reopen after yearlong renovation


City leaders will reopen a road in east Knoxville known for flooding Monday afternoon following a year of renovations.

In the past year, crews raised the elevation of the Prosser Road, added concrete curbs, gutters and sidewalks, installed new storm drains, and created bike lanes. In all the city spent $1.4 million on the project.

Prosser Road connects Knoxville Zoo Drive and East Magnolia. For many years, heavy rains consistently shut down this section of road.


KPD: Man says he was shot leaving a Knoxville business


(WBIR) The Knoxville Police Department are investigating an overnight shooting that sent one person to the hospital.

According to KPD, a man went into the ER early Sunday morning with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Officers said the 36-year-old male victim said he was leaving a business in the 2500 block of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue around 3:15 a.m. Sunday when he heard gunshots. He said one of the rounds hit him in the leg.

KPD said there is no suspect information available yet, but the investigation is ongoing.

Man guilty of killing pregnant girlfriend, unborn child


Friday afternoon, a Knox County jury found Brandon Scott Donaldson, 24, guilty of second degree murder in the death of his pregnant girlfriend, Marcia Crider.

The trial lasted five days. Donaldson was also convicted of second degree murder in the death of Crider's unborn child, and the attempted second degree murder of her mother, Pebbles Crider.
