Semi cab bursts into flames outside Knox Co. gas station


(WBIR) No one was injured when a tractor trailer cab caught on fire Friday morning in East Knox County, according a Knoxville Fire Department spokesperson.

The fire happened at the Exxon Mobile gas station on Strawberry Planes Pike at about 7 a.m.

WBIR viewer Matt French recorded the fire and shared it with our station.

No word on what sparked the fire.

The Knox County School system will get $2.9 million less than it initially expected in state funding, according to new estimates.

That now means Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett will revise his proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year to reflect the drop.

Salvation Army to host job fair today

In honor of the 60th annual National Salvation Army Week, the non-profit will host a job fair Thursday at its Broadway location.

Several employers in Knoxville will be there from 2 - 4 p.m. Those businesses include Walmart, Weigel's, Marco's Pizza, GC Services, Cellular Sales, Volunteers of America, and Goodwill.

Crews restore water to all customers affected by water main break


Update 10:10 am:

(WBIR) Crews have restored water to all 22 customers after a water main broke in east Knoxville early Tuesday morning, according to a Knoxville Utility spokesperson.

The break happened on 1715 E. 5th Avenue at about 2:15 a.m.

KUB said crews are still working to repair the roadway.
